Windows
The major window manufacturers used by DIY van conversions in North America are C.R. Lawrence and Motion Windows. Other manufacturers are Hehr, Dometic/Seitz and various smaller manufacturers. Hehr makes awning style windows, need to look more closely at that.
The European market has more options, including Seitz, which aren’t readily available in NA.

- TernOverland imports Eurovision windows, which appear to be a Chinese Seitz clone. There’s another importer in Vancouver for the Canadian market

- TODO The Hymer Aktiv has smaller awning-style windows in the slider and (I think) driver’s side)

The Promaster chassis panels are flat horizontally, but curve about 1” in 24” vertically. That will affect what windows can be installed, if they’re tall enough. For TernOverland, their windows max at 1250mm wide, so not huge compared to the size of the window panels on the Promaster. I do like the awning windows though.
Promaster upper panel sizes:
- B panel ~600 mm x 1300 mm
- C panel ~600 mm x 1700 mm

Looks like 450x1100 for B-panel opposite slider (or perhaps 500x1200 would fit? Probably not quite). If we don’t want quite as tall a window for the C-panel, so the only option would be 300x700, or go with a longer Hehr or Motion slider instead. Even that only takes up about half of the C-panel.
Another option is to install two of the Hehr windows, similar to RBComponents example van and this Sprinter I noticed in a parking lot:
The Hehr windows from RB Components are about $220 each.
Dimensions for Motion Windows
Exterior
- 159-3 C-panel 73 1⁄4” x 21 1⁄4” = 1860x540 exterior, 71 3⁄4 x 19 3⁄4 = 1823x501 interior
- 159-2 B-panel 45 1⁄4 x 21 1⁄4 = 1149x540
- RAM-SS half-height 37 1⁄4 x 11 1⁄4 = 946x285.75
The RAM-SS half-height windows (slightly larger than Hehr) are about $260
Motion also makes custom windows, so it would be possible to get a double-pane slider in 44x12 - rough quote on Series 1800 $370 with 8 week lead time as of 20180201. Fixed glass, slightly shorter is an option in the top of the C Panel, similar to the FitRV Seitz window and Tighe’s high fixed windows. Those would need to be ~6” tall instead of ~12” though
Shades
- proeddie cellular blinds
- Van Specialties makes fold-down / snap-on shades for their standard size windows. Not sure if they sell them separately
- Marty from Bellingham has them on his van, and there’s almost no light leakage. They also cover the full width of the rear doors, which may help a bit with insulation as well
- Eurovision windows have a built-in shade/light block, but with no insulation.
